The Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has presented a large number of furniture to 20 schools in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region to help reduce the furniture deficit affecting teaching and learning.
The donation forms part of the MP’s commitment to improving the learning environment and ensuring that students study in dignity and comfort. The items donated includes 50 sets of desks for kindergarten pupils, 300 mono desks, 150 dual desks, 50 dining tables with chairs, 50 teacher tables and chairs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare said the intervention was in fulfilment of a promise made to the beneficiary schools. She explained that the support is aimed at addressing the challenge of students, especially young learners, sitting on the floor during lessons.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the MP said the President prioritises the dignity and comfort of every student across the country. She noted that the donation aligns with the government’s agenda to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.
“We all know education is very important. It is one thing educating children, and another thing educating them well in the right environment to make sure they are able to study and understand,” she said.
Ofosu-Adjare stressed that excellent academic performance goes hand in hand with a conducive learning environment where students’ dignity and comfort are upheld. She added that sitting on the floor to study undermines the quality of education as well as the dignity and comfort of learners. She assured the schools that she would return next month with additional support.

The District Director of Education, Ahmed Nasir Ibrahim, expressed profound gratitude to the MP, the District Chief Executive, and the President for prioritising the needs of students and teachers in the district. He said the intervention would improve school attendance, teaching, and learning, particularly in schools where pupils had been sitting on the floor.
“On behalf of teachers and students, I say thank you. We are facing challenges with furniture deficits, and students attend school and sit on the floor to study, especially the younger ones. But now, with this donation, we believe the situation will be half solved,” Mr Nasir said.
The donation is expected to provide relief to the 20 beneficiary schools and contribute to a safer, more comfortable, and more effective learning environment for pupils and teachers in the Techiman North District.
