Police Step Up Security Nationwide for 2026 Easter

The Ghana Police Service has rolled out robust security arrangements across the country ahead of this year’s Easter festivities, assuring the public of a safe, peaceful and incident‑free celebration. In a statement issued on April, 2, 2026, the Service said personnel have been strategically deployed to all key locations, particularly the Kwahu enclave, which is expected to record high human and vehicular traffic.

According to the statement, officers have been stationed at event grounds, recreational centres, and popular tourist sites, while patrols and operational teams have been intensified along major routes to and from Kwahu to enhance security and public safety. Motor traffic units have also been tasked to manage traffic flow and minimise congestion throughout the festive period.

The Police indicated that intelligence‑led operations are underway nationwide to prevent and respond swiftly to any criminal activity. The service urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and strictly observe road traffic regulations, including avoiding excessive speeding and drunk driving, and complying with directions from officers on duty.

All Patrons of the Easter activities have been further advised to be mindful of their personal safety and belongings and to report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest police officer or station. In extending Easter greetings to all celebrants, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festivities and ensuring that citizens and visitors enjoy a safe holiday period.
