The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has appealed to Ghanaians to actively observe road construction projects in their areas and report any concerns to the appropriate authorities.
He emphasized that increased public participation is playing a key role in identifying poor-quality work and strengthening accountability in road infrastructure delivery nationwide.
Speaking during a citizen engagement session at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School in the Savannah Region on Saturday, May 23, Mr. Agbodza encouraged especially the youth to stay informed about road projects and provide timely feedback to officials.
He urged citizens not to assume that issues would automatically reach the attention of authorities, stressing that their involvement is essential. According to him, residents should feel empowered to report developments on projects in their communities at any time.
The minister made it clear that the government will not tolerate contractors who deliver substandard work. He revealed that in the Savannah Region, residents have begun using their mobile phones to document construction activities and share evidence directly with both himself and President Mahama.
Mr. Agbodza noted that this growing level of citizen oversight is making it increasingly difficult for contractors to misrepresent progress or hide deficiencies in their work.
He added that community members are now tracking daily site activities, including workforce presence, which is helping to improve transparency and ensure that publicly funded projects meet expected standards.
