At least seven people have been injured in a shooting incident involving residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom and New Winneba in the Central Region, reportedly linked to a land dispute.
A police officer stationed at the New Winneba Police Station is among those reported to have been injured.
According to reports, some residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom, who claim ownership of land in New Winneba, entered the community in the early hours of Tuesday and allegedly opened fire.
The group reportedly attempted to lock up some shops in the area, but residents of New Winneba resisted, leading to a confrontation that escalated into a gun battle.
Several people were reportedly injured in the ensuing violence, while some residents fled the community amid the gunfire.
The police have since reinforced their presence in the area as security personnel work to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
