Vice President Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has called on Africa to unite and organise its sovereignty in the service of shared prosperity and their markets. According to her this will help enable entrepreneurs or manufacturers in every part of the continent and also see Africa as one connected market with vast opportunities.
Speaking at the 2026 Africa Prosperity Dialogues in Accra on behalf of the president, Prof. Naana Jane said “governments’ must generate long-term and medium-term policies and grow strong development financial institutions and regional Projects that reflect the scale of its collective ambition, appealing to Africans to continue to integrate, interrogate its borders and unite to organise its sovereignty in service of shared prosperity and its market and see Africa as one connected market with vast opportunities”.
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang also said, despite efforts by African youths across the continent in driving technology and innovation from fintech to creating industries its potential is not fully reflected in cross-border participation. “Our youths account for 60% of our population, across the continent our youths are driving technology and innovation from fintech to creative industries however, this potential is not yet fully reflected in cross-border participation.
She stressed that “Ghana is contributing to the shared agenda of Africa, adding that the 24-Hour Economy initiative is designed to unlock productivity by better coordinating infrastructure, finance, and institutions, ensuring that businesses and workers are no longer constrained by avoidable bottlenecks or lost time”
This year’s theme, “Empowering SMEs, Women and Youth in Africa’s Single Market: Innovate. Collaborate. Trade,” reflects a growing urgency to ensure that Africa’s largest economic actors are not left behind as the continent pushes for deeper integration.
