Techiman magazine mechanics are calling on authorities to provide enough space for their operations

Mechanics operating at Techiman Magazine have raised concerns over inadequate workspace, a situation that compels them to carry out vehicle repairs along the roadside. They say the practice contributes to traffic congestion, disrupts the free flow of vehicles, and poses serious safety risks to both mechanics and other road users.

The mechanics are therefore appealing to the relevant authorities to provide adequate space to support their operations.

For mechanics at Techiman magazine, leaving their homes to work every day is like taking one step to risk their lives. The insufficient space for their operations has compelled them to repair vehicles on the side of the road.

The practice often causes congestion on one of the most important and busiest roads in Techiman, risking the lives of both themselves and other road users.

According to them, the countless accidents on the road often increase their fears. “We are the ones working on all vehicles parked here, and there have been numerous horrible incidents here.

“We work in constant fear while operating under vehicles, knowing that anything could happen at any time. We have also witnessed numerous accidents on this road,” he said.

Despite knowing the consequences of their operations, they continue to work, stressing that they have no other alternative. “We do not have sufficient space for our operations, which is why we repair vehicles on the roadside, and this is our great concerns”

Drivers and pedestrians using this stretch always have to exercise extra caution to ensure their safety. The mechanics are thus appealing for a new place that is far from town for safety reasons.“The magazine should be sited away from the town to allow sufficient space for vehicles to park properly,” they said.

In a swift response, the Techiman South Municipal Chief Executive, Adjei Mensah, says that the assembly is in serious discussions with the traditional authorities for a convenient and sufficient space.” We are in serious disscussion with tradional leaders to get a sufficient area for them to operate”.
