Police Investigate Death of Liberian National at Lashibi; Three Arrested

The Accra Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, following an incident at an apartment complex in Lashibi near Sakumono.

According to a statement issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the incident occurred on Friday, 27 February 2026. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had visited his brother at the apartment in the company of his girlfriend when he was allegedly attacked by some residents and members of the public.

Police say the assault followed an alarm reportedly raised by the caretaker of the apartment, who accused the deceased of being a thief.

A patrol team responding to a distress call arrived at the scene and rushed Mr. Tengeeh to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body has since been deposited at the Lashibi Funeral Home for preservation and autopsy.

Three suspects, Vincent Adzikah, 38; Francis Amuzu, 44; and William Addison, 34, have been arrested and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. A fourth suspect, identified as Enoch Mensah, remains at large, with efforts underway to apprehend him. The arrested suspects are expected to be arraigned before court.

The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that mob justice and unlawful assault are criminal offences that undermine due process.

The Command further urged citizens to report suspected criminal activities to the police and allow lawful procedures to take their course.
