Interior Ministry to End Manual Transactions on December 15 as New Digital Portal Goes Live

The Ministry of the Interior will officially discontinue all manual transactions from December 15, 2025, following the rollout of a comprehensive online service portal designed to modernise public service delivery.

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak made the announcement during the launch of the digital platform, which forms part of the government’s wider national digital-transformation agenda aimed at boosting efficiency, curbing corruption, and enhancing citizen access to essential services.

The new online portal will host several services previously handled manually, including immigration quota applications, dual citizenship processing, private security licensing, and explosives-related permits. According to the Minister, this shift is a transformative step toward eliminating delays and reducing human contact in service delivery.

In outlining the importance of the reform, the Minister stressed that the complete migration to digital operations is meant to close loopholes and promote transparency.

He stated: “I can assure you that in the next year, no service within the ministry will be collected in cash. Every service will be electronic, and all tracking will also be digitised. This will help block loopholes that allow for extortion, leakages, and bribery.”

He further emphasised that the newly introduced digital services would address the longstanding challenges associated with manual processing, noting that the ministry had already begun the transition.

The Minister added: “The ministry has begun the digitalisation of these services, which, when launched by the end of this year, will streamline workflows, reduce delays, improve public access to services, and promote transparency and accountability.”

The Interior Ministry believes the new portal will create a seamless interface between citizens and the ministry, helping eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks and strengthening the accountability framework across all departments.

Officials say the initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of building an inclusive and technology-driven economy where public services are more accessible, responsive, and secure. The ministry expects the digital platform to significantly improve operational efficiency while enhancing national security, public safety, and the protection of citizens’ rights.

With the December 15 deadline fast approaching, the ministry is urging the public to prepare to migrate fully to the new system, as no manual applications will be accepted thereafter.
