New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has paid an emotional tribute to legendary highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, following confirmation of his passing by the family.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Agyapong described the news as more than a personal loss, calling it “an irreplaceable wound to the very soul of Ghana.”

He praised Daddy Lumba as a voice that chronicled the Ghanaian experience, stating, “In our moments of joy, his music lifted us. In our seasons of pain, his songs wept with us, giving words to emotions we couldn’t express.”
Mr. Agyapong also acknowledged the musician’s contribution to the NPP, noting that Lumba had gifted the party “an anthem of hope,” while remaining a patriotic son of Ghana above all else.
Reflecting on the deep connection between the artist and the nation, he recalled the haunting lyrics from one of Daddy Lumba’s songs, “Makra Mo,” adding, “Today, his own words pierce our hearts: ‘Farewell, perhaps this is the last time you’ll see me.’”
The aspiring presidential candidate called Lumba a “national treasure,” asserting that “legends do not die.” He affirmed that the late singer’s voice and legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of Ghanaians for generations to come.

“Daddy Lumba, you have departed from our sight, but you will never depart from our hearts,” Mr. Agyapong concluded. “Rest in eternal peace.”
The passing of Daddy Lumba has drawn tributes from across the political and cultural spectrum, with many describing his death as a monumental loss to Ghanaian music and identity.
