At least two feared dead after Helicopter crash in Tema

At least two people have died after a Skyarrow micro light  helicopter reportedly crashed and caught fire at Oninku Drive School Park in Tema Community One, near the city’s central business district.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at about 3:30pm, sending shockwaves through the area as residents and workers nearby rushed to the scene after witnessing the aircraft go down.

Eyewitnesses said the helicopter burst into flames moments after the crash, leaving the two people believed to have been on board severely burnt. The identities of the victims were not immediately known at the time of reporting.

Officials have yet to confirm the circumstances that led to the crash, but emergency responders were quickly dispatched to bring the situation under control.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and other security agencies moved in to douse the flames and secure the crash site while investigations begin.

With the help of law enforcement officers from the Ghana Police Service, the emergency response team managed to retrieve the charred bodies of the victims.

Mr Ahmed Abdullia, the Assemblyman for Kwesi Plange Electoral Area, said none of the students was hurt.

Further details about the helicopter, the identities of the victims, and the possible cause of the crash are expected to be released by authorities as the investigation progresses.
