Government Boosts Fire Service with New Vehicles to Improve Emergency Response

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to better protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.

He made the remarks on Monday, May 18, during the commissioning of a fleet of vehicles to enhance the Service’s mobility and emergency response capabilities across the country.

The newly commissioned logistics include two Toyota Hiace minibuses, four Nissan Navara pick-ups, one Toyota Camry saloon car procured by the government, and a Honda motorbike donated to the Service.

“These vehicles being commissioned today will support operational duties, improve mobility, and enhance emergency response capabilities of the Service,” the Minister stated.

Mr. Muntaka further disclosed that plans are far advanced for the procurement of 100 fire engines and additional rescue equipment to support fire operations nationwide.

He also commended the leadership and personnel of the GNFS for their dedication and sacrifice, urging them to ensure proper maintenance and effective use of the vehicles.

In her remarks, Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong expressed appreciation to the government for its continued support and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and responsible use of the equipment.
