The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that the sector minister, Samuel Nartey George, has misappropriated or “blown” public funds.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 18, the Ministry clarified that the document being circulated online has been taken out of context and does not indicate that any public funds have been spent, disbursed, or misused.
According to the statement, the document in question forms part of a broader official submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures for the 2026 fiscal year.

The Ministry explained that the request relates to planned projects, operational activities, and programme interventions expected to be undertaken within the year under review.
“The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has taken notice of a document circulating on social media, accompanied by claims that the Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has “blown” public funds,” portions of the statement said.
It further clarified that the circulating document merely represents an administrative and procedural request and should not be interpreted as evidence of expenditure.
“The document in circulation is an extract from a broader official submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance, in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures, and based on budgetary allocations duly approved by Parliament for the 2026 fiscal year.”
The Ministry stressed that the approval process is still ongoing and that no payments have been made in connection with the items referenced in the document currently being shared online.
