Gomoa Tarkwa Chief Warns Men to Stay Away from SHS Girls

The Chief of Gomoa Tarkwa in the Central Region has issued a strong warning to men to refrain from engaging in sexual relationships with Senior High School (SHS) girls, urging them to allow the students to focus on their education and personal development.

Speaking at the 43rd Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Gomoa Muzano Senior High School, Nana Atta Kwakwa Opusu Agyire VII, Odikro of Gomoa Muzano, cautioned men in the community and its environs against pursuing relationships with schoolgirls. He stressed that such actions jeopardize the future of young girls and undermine their educational progress.” Please leave the girls to grow to become doctors, lawyers,” he stated.

Addressing parents, school authorities, and students, the chief underscored the importance of education as a foundation for success. He encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s schooling and advised students to take their studies seriously, avoid risky behaviors that could lead to dropping out, and strive to become responsible leaders of the future.

Nana Atta Kwakwa further warned that any man found engaging in sexual relations with an SHS girl would face traditional sanctions before being handed over to the police for further action.

He also appealed to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), alumni, and other stakeholders to support the school’s development by addressing critical needs such as staff accommodation, additional classroom blocks, student desks, a school bus, and other infrastructure.” Alumni, please come together and support the school with infrastructure,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the Central Regional Director of Education, Dr. Juliette Dufie Otami, used the occasion to caution students against examination malpractice. She emphasized that the Ghana Education Service will intensify monitoring during the upcoming WASSCE and BECE examinations, holding students, teachers, and any complicit parties accountable. “Any attempt to engage in exam malpractice in any form will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

Dr. Otami also condemned acts of indiscipline, truancy, and violence—particularly incidents recorded during inter-school sports in the region earlier this year—reiterating that discipline and commitment to education are essential for success.” Until you have completed your final paper and officially exited the examination process you remain fully bound by the rules, regulations and disciplinary framework of your school”, she emphasized.
