Oti Regional Police commander urges calm after 3 killed in Nkwanta South attacks

The Oti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alex Acquah, has met security agencies and community leaders in Nkwanta to calm tensions and promote peace following recent violent attacks that claimed three lives in the area.

On 26 March 2026, the commander led a team of senior officers to interact with police personnel in Nkwanta, urging them to maintain vigilance, discipline, and professionalism as investigations and security operations continued.

He later joined a joint security delegation made up of the Police, Military, BNI, and Defence Intelligence officers to the Zongo community, where they met the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Issaka Kayaba, and his elders to express condolences on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board over the deaths of three adult males in the Nkwanta South Municipality.

The Zongo Chief assured the team of the community’s commitment to peace, non‑retaliation, and peaceful coexistence, describing the engagement as part of broader efforts to strengthen community relations and stability in the municipality.

As part of the tour, DCOP Acquah also visited Dadaga, where an earlier arson incident had claimed two lives, to assess the situation and security response on the ground.

The Regional Police Command states that it is closely monitoring developments and is urging residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies, while warning against misinformation and calling for restraint to prevent any escalation of violence.
