Chiefs in Techiman in the Bono East Region has called on Ghanaians to set aside political differences and support the current government efforts to build a lasting nation legacy. Speaking at the region’s 69th Independence Day Celebration held at Akumfi Ameyaw park in Techiman on behalf of the Paramount Chief of the Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw VI, the Sanaahene and Chief of Twimia, Nana Ankomah Frimpong, reflected on the sacrifices of Ghana’s forebears.
He stressed that ” although successive governments have made significant contributions to national development, Ghanaians must set aside political differences, unite, and support President Mahama to leave a lasting legacy”.

Similarly, the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, noted that although successive governments have made notable achievements since independence, some countries have made far greater progress. He therefore called for meaningful national conversations aimed at transforming the country’s fortunes.
The Bono East Regional representative of the Council of State and Paramount Chief of the Yeji Traditional Area, Pimampim Yaw Kabrese V, urged that going forward, governments should continue development projects initiated by their predecessors in the interest of the nation, rather than abandoning them after leaving office.

He streesed “no government can complete all the projects it has initiated, but what we see is that as soon as the government leaves office the parties will say it did not start and hence neglect them. At 69 as a country, every government must put in efforts to continue the uncompleted projects of its predecessor”.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, emphasised the need for Ghana to focus on sustainable economic growth to achieve genuine prosperity. He explained “we’ve come a long way but the journey ahead still holds challenges that requires our unwavering dedication”.

The region’s 69th Independence Day commemoration brought together the Regional Minister, the Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman South, the Member of Parliament, the Council of State representative, party executives, religious leaders, chiefs, students, and members of the public. The gathering served not only as a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the nation’s forebears but also to honour their enduring legacy.
