The Ghana Police Service, through the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, has rescued a young woman seen in a viral video with a serious injury to her left eye while desperately calling for help from passersby.
According to a police statement, the team launched an urgent intelligence-led operation immediately after the video surfaced online. Their efforts led them to Okushibri near Apollonia, where both the victim and the suspect were located.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Bright Kpodo, also known as Horror, is the victim’s partner and is alleged to have physically assaulted her, causing the injuries captured in the viral footage.
Kpodo is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to provide the victim with medical care and psychosocial support.
The Police Service is encouraging the public to promptly report any incidents of domestic violence for swift investigation and prosecution.
