Parliament approves four deputy ministers after unanimous support

Parliament has unanimously approved four Members of Parliament nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to serve as deputy ministers.

This followed a recommendation from the Appointments Committee, whose report was laid before the House on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The approval was done by consensus.

The approved nominees include Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro, who takes up the role of Deputy Minister for Transport; James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North, as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West, as Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; and Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan, as Deputy Minister for Health.

The four lawmakers had earlier appeared before the Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, 2025, where they were vetted in accordance with Article 78(1) of the Constitution.

During the debate, both sides of the House expressed confidence in the capabilities of the nominees and their potential to effectively support their respective sector ministers.
