NPP rejects EC’s Ablekuma North election rerun, cites lack of consensus

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly disputed the Electoral Commission’s (EC) claim that there was consensus on rerunning the parliamentary election in Ablekuma North constituency.

According to NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party’s representatives vehemently opposed the decision during a July 1 meeting with the EC.

The EC announced on July 2 that it would conduct a rerun of the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election in 19 polling stations within the constituency due to disputes over result authenticity.

However, the NPP asserts that only three polling station results remain outstanding and are sufficient to complete the collation and declare a winner.

The NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, emphasized that the EC’s decision is unjustified, and the party will not comply with the rerun.
