Mustapha Hamid Denies Involvement In GHS280m Extortion Allegations

Lawyers of the former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, have issued a statement regarding charges mentioned in a press release from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Specifically, the statement notes that as of its issuance, Mustapha Hamid has not been charged in any court, and no charge sheet has been seen.

Consequently, Mustapha Hamid denies allegations of extorting GHC280 million from oil companies as stated in the publication and press release.

The response comes after a press release from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which named Mustapha Hamid among seven individuals and three companies charged in connection with the scheme, said to have been perpetrated within the NPA.

Moreover, according to the statement from the Lawyers of Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, former Chief Executive of the NPA, he is prepared to contest these allegations in court to defend his reputation.
