The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, under the leadership of Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has made significant strides in combating child labor and human trafficking in Ghana. A major breakthrough came with the rescue of 794 victims, including 289 children, in 2024, showcasing the Ministry’s commitment to protecting vulnerable populations.

A key strategy in this fight has been the training of 570 law enforcement officers to identify, prevent, and combat these issues. This initiative not only enhances the capacity of law enforcement agencies but also ensures a more effective response to cases of child labor and human trafficking.

Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in achieving the government’s vision of expanding social protection, reducing inequalities, and alleviating poverty. The approach underscores the Ministry’s recognition that addressing child labor and human trafficking requires a multi-faceted effort involving various stakeholders.
