Evangelist Mama Pat, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence by the Accra Circuit Court for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretense.
The court found her guilty of deceiving individuals through a televised broadcast in 2022, where she falsely claimed to have spiritual powers to double money.
Several people lost significant amounts of money after believing her promises of miraculous financial returns, which were never fulfilled.
Prior to sentencing, the court conducted a mandatory pregnancy test, which confirmed she was not pregnant, allowing the sentencing to proceed.
Meanwhile, Nana Agradaa has asked her church members to continue praying for her while she serves her jail term.
