The La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) has announced plans to arrest and prosecute the landlord of a collapsed building at Adenta New Site for allegedly ignoring warnings over structural defects and violating building regulations.
According to the Assembly, a former contractor on the project had raised concerns about the structural integrity of the building and advised that construction be halted, but the landlord allegedly proceeded despite the warnings.
The incident, which resulted in one death and four serious injuries, has seen rescue operations officially concluded.
Municipal Chief Executive, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, said the Assembly will pursue legal action against all those found culpable while intensifying efforts to identify and demolish unauthorised and unsafe structures across the municipality.
He explained that the move is aimed at preventing future building collapses and safeguarding lives and property, stressing the need for strict compliance with planning and construction regulations.
