President John Dramani Mahama has announced that extensive road construction and rehabilitation works, along with other key infrastructure projects, will soon begin in several Zongo communities across the country.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to inclusive national development, stressing that no community will be left behind. According to him, the initiative forms part of a broader agenda to improve infrastructure, sanitation, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in underserved areas.
President Mahama made the announcement on Wednesday, May 27, while joining the Muslim Ummah in reflection and celebration. He used the occasion to call on Ghanaians to uphold values of sacrifice, compassion, peace, tolerance, and national unity.

He also urged young people to adopt discipline, hard work, and a strong sense of responsibility in order to contribute meaningfully to national development, while cautioning against drug abuse and other negative behaviours that could undermine their future and the country’s progress.
On development in Zongo communities, the President said the planned infrastructure projects are aimed at bridging long-standing development gaps and improving living conditions across the country.
He further commended the Ghana Hajj Board and all stakeholders for their commitment and effective coordination, which ensured a smooth and successful Hajj pilgrimage this year.
