Rans Logistics pays back GH¢19.1 million after audit flags excess payment-Deputy Finance Minister

The Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has revealed that Rans Logistics, a company cited in the Auditor-General’s special report for multiple infractions, has refunded GH₵19.1 million to the state just a week after the report was made public.

Rans Logistics was flagged for overpayments related to grain transportation and the disappearance of thousands of tonnes of rice and maize.

The company’s response comes as Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) continues to investigate the audit findings.

Speaking before the Public Accounts Committee on Monday, March 30, 2026, Deputy Minister Ampem Nyarko said the repayment demonstrates the impact of the audit in protecting public funds.

“On March 10, I presented the findings of the audit to Parliament. Exactly a week later, on March 17, one of the companies that was identified to be associated with some of the infractions has responded Rans Logistics was the company that was stated to have been overpaid for the transportation of grains exactly a week after the presentation, the company has gone ahead to refund GH₵19.1 million to the state,” he said.

He revealed that the company was paid for rice in excess of 7,000 metric tonnes, which were unaccounted for.

“If you look at the audit revelations, it is not just the GH¢19.1 million that were cited. It was also stated that the company was paid with rice in excess of 7,000 metric tonnes. So we are expecting the value of 7,000 metric tonnes of rice as well,” he explained.

He added that the Attorney General is working with his team to recommend the right course of action for all identified infractions,” he said.

Deputy Minister Nyarko Ampem emphasised that these revelations demonstrate that the audit was necessary and aimed at safeguarding public funds.

“This example shows the importance of the audit. It was intended to protect state resources, and it is already beginning to achieve its purpose,” he said.
