Rainstorm hits Ajumako Kyibil, rips off roofs, fells power lines, displaces over 50 residents

‎A Rainstorm has wreaked havoc on buildings ripping off roofing and felling power lines in Ajumako Kyibil in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District.

On March 23 a rainstorm left a trail of destruction on several homes in Ajumako Kyibil causing significant structural damage to buildings, destroying properties, felling power lines on streets, and displacing over 50 residents.

According to residents the fallen electric cables have left them in fear as it exposes the children and elderly to danger.

” Yesterday alot of residents couldn’t spend the night in their houses because of the rainstorm”. If nothing is done about the fallen electric cables residents’ lives will be in danger especially the children and elderly” they stated.

‎The severity of the damage has forced many to spend the night in classrooms. Residents are therefore appealing to the government to pay heed to their plight immediately.

“We are urging for support from the government and benevolent individuals, we need cements and roofing to restore our lives” they added.

Until residents get support, some residents will continue to spend the night in classrooms and will continue to live in fear.
