Ghana Health Service Condemns Attacks on Staff, Reaffirms Commitment to Safety

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has strongly condemned recent incidents involving attacks on its personnel while they were carrying out their professional duties, describing the acts as deeply concerning and unacceptable.

In a press release dated February 21, 2026, the Service emphasized that mutual respect between health workers and the public is fundamental to delivering quality healthcare. While reaffirming its commitment to providing the highest standard of care to patients and clients, GHS stressed that its staff equally deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

The Service stated that it stands firmly with its dedicated and hardworking personnel and will not condone any actions that compromise their safety, well-being, or ability to perform their duties effectively. It condemned all forms of aggression, intimidation, and violence against health workers.

GHS further assured the public of its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment within its facilities. It said it will continue to collaborate with relevant security agencies to strengthen protective measures and ensure that health facilities remain safe for both patients and staff.

The statement was signed by the Director-General of the Service, Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, who reiterated that the safety of health workers and the public remains the Service’s highest priority.
