
Ten people have been arrested in connection with the violent chieftaincy dispute in Adambrobe in the Aburi District of the Eastern Region, following an intelligence-led police operation.
The suspects were picked up on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition. A statement from the Eastern Regional Police Command said those arrested include a farmer, vulcaniser, taxi driver, businessman, and private security personnel.

Police retrieved five pump-action rifles, 23 live cartridges, a taser, six mobile phones, and a body armour. Two vehicles—an unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19—were also impounded.
In a related development, an eleventh suspect, identified as Douglas Amoako Danquah, was arrested on May 4 after he was spotted in a procession within the township. All suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe and urged all parties to exercise restraint. It also called on the public to support efforts to sustain calm in the area.
