Mohamed Salah has sent shockwaves through Merseyside this week after he announced that he was closer to leaving Liverpool than staying at Anfield.
The Egyptian ‘King’ remains Liverpool’s most dangerous forward, but he says that he has not received an offer from Liverpool.
Salah is already 32 and earns around €22m annually which makes him one of the highest earners in the Premiership. A contract extension would mean this figure going up a bit more and if he is given such a salary, Trent Arnold and Van Dijk will be monitoring keenly as they are both out of contract too.
Giving Salah who is already 32 a salary more than the €22m which he earns now will automatically hike the demands of TAA and Van Dijk which could leave the club’s salary structure bloated. What do they do now?
The player’s comments on the absence of an offer on his table from Liverpool was just to clear himself in the sight of the fans that he is not the one unwilling to stay.
This leaves the club in a very difficult situation. They may be forced to prioritise the renewal of one the three players and which of them would it be?
