Accra, Ghana – The African College of Aviation (AFCA) has proudly graduated 12 students, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s efforts to develop skilled professionals for Ghana’s aviation industry. However, the occasion also highlighted the urgent need for reforms to address the sector’s challenges.
During the graduation ceremony, AFCA Founder Confidence Akaponi emphasized the importance of introducing robust regulations to standardize the sector and enhance its competitiveness. “The aviation sector in Ghana faces numerous challenges, including inconsistent standards and a lack of robust regulations,” Akaponi noted. “Without clear policies to guide the industry, we cannot compete effectively with international airlines.”
Akaponi stressed that regulations are crucial not only for competition but also for ensuring safety and fostering public trust. He urged the government and relevant aviation institutions to act decisively to address these issues, emphasizing that unlocking the potential of Ghana’s aviation industry requires addressing these foundational challenges.
Pastor Solomon Anti Mireku, Chairman of the event, encouraged the graduates to maintain excellence in their professional endeavors, emphasizing that excellence, dedication, and integrity are essential tools for success in the aviation industry.
The graduates expressed excitement about completing their training and optimism about their future in the aviation industry. They acknowledged the support of their instructors and expressed readiness to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s aviation sector.
The event underscored the need for urgent reforms to address challenges in Ghana’s aviation sector, including limited investment and inconsistent standards. Stakeholders and policymakers were urged to collaborate in creating a conducive environment that supports growth and sustainability in the industry.
