The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin, has announced that the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2021, has completed all required procedures under Parliament’s Standing Orders and is now ready to be presented to the House through the Business Committee for consideration.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Speaker urged accuracy and responsibility in public discussions about the bill, noting that some MPs have debated it without full knowledge of its procedural status—a situation that could mislead the public.
He explained that the bill was formally reintroduced by nine MPs, reviewed by the Attorney-General’s Office, and examined by the Committee on Private Members’ Bills and Motions, in line with parliamentary requirements.
Rt. Hon. Bagbin emphasized that all steps taken so far comply fully with Parliament’s Standing Orders, paving the way for the bill to be scheduled by the Business Committee.
His statement comes amid heightened public interest and debate, with Parliament expected to determine the next steps once the bill is placed on the House’s Order Paper.
