Queen Mothers Caution SHS Final-Year Girls Against Relationships with Married Men

Queen mothers in Ghana’s Central Region have issued a strong warning to final-year Senior High School (SHS) female students, urging them to avoid relationships with married men after graduation.

The caution was delivered during the second edition of an outreach programme held at Enyan Denkyira Senior High School in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District. Nana Adwoa Nkensah Eduam III, Central Regional President of Queen Mothers and Paramount Queen Mother of the Agona Nsaba Traditional Area, advised students to prioritize their future and steer clear of men old enough to be their fathers.

She described such relationships as harmful and cautioned that engaging in affairs with married men could bring serious consequences. Nana Eduam also condemned viral social media trends where some SHS leavers boast about targeting married men, describing the behaviour as unacceptable and damaging to societal values.

She encouraged young women to focus on their education, choose partners within their age group, and avoid negative influences that could lead to unwanted pregnancies or derail their ambitions.

Nana Eduam further called on married men to act responsibly, stressing that it is shameful for adults to engage in relationships with schoolgirls. She warned that such actions could have repercussions within their own families.

Also speaking at the event, Osadeoyo Ayeboaful Etuafual, Senahen of the Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, echoed the appeal for discipline among students. He urged them to remain focused on their studies and resist peer pressure and other influences that could lead to school dropouts.

He also raised concerns about reports of some affluent men luring female students into relationships, calling on men in communities to act responsibly and protect the future of young girls.
