President John Dramani Mahama embarks on an official visit to Japan and Singapore beginning Sunday, August 17, 2025, as part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations, expand trade and investment ties, and strengthen cooperation on key development priorities.

In Japan, the President will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is expected to address a plenary session on promoting trade and investment. He will also deliver a keynote address at the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, highlighting investment opportunities under the Resetting Ghana agenda.

While in Tokyo, President Mahama will hold high-level discussions with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, as well as senior officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), focusing on trade, technical cooperation, and infrastructure partnerships.

Following his engagements in Japan, the President will proceed to Singapore for a three-day state visit. His itinerary includes meetings with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, and an address at a Ghana Investment Forum designed to strengthen private sector collaboration and showcase Ghana’s reform and investment priorities.

The two-country visit, according to the Presidency, is aimed at attracting investment, broadening market access for Ghanaian goods and services, mobilizing technical and development support, and enhancing partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
