Police nab ‘Sir Obama Pokuase’ in nationwide illegal arms crackdown

The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with other security agencies, has arrested social media personality Daniel Adomako, popularly known as Sir Obama Pokuase, as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal arms possession.

Mr. Adomako was picked up on Wednesday, August 13, in an intelligence-led operation targeting networks involved in acquiring and displaying sophisticated, unlicensed weapons. Police say he is assisting with investigations into images and videos he allegedly posted online showing individuals brandishing high-grade firearms.

The nationwide operations, ongoing for several weeks, have so far led to the seizure of a significant cache of illegal arms and ammunition.

In a related case, three other suspects, Prince Ofori, Yayra Abiwu, and Emmanuel Kwakye, are in custody over alleged death threats and the publication of false news connected to the recent military helicopter crash.

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal networks and urged the public to provide credible information to support these efforts. The statement, signed by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, assured that updates will be released in line with due process.
