NPP takes disciplinary action against 184 members in Yendi Constituency

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended or expelled 184 members from the Yendi Constituency for breaching the party’s constitution during the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.

The decision was made unanimously at an expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting held on December 23, 2024. The affected members were found guilty of various offenses, including:

  • Standing as independent candidates against the officially elected parliamentary candidate of the party
  • Joining or declaring support for another political party
  • Supporting an independent candidate in the just-ended December 7, 2024, election in Yendi constituency
  • Refusing to work for the party in the just-ended presidential and parliamentary elections

According to the party’s constitution, members found guilty of these offenses automatically forfeit their membership or are suspended pending a Disciplinary Committee report ¹. The NPP’s constitution cites Article 3, Clauses 9(1), 7(1), and 8(1) as the basis for the disciplinary actions.

The party has attached a list of the affected individuals to the notice, which was issued by the Yendi Constituency Chairman, Nashiru Abdul Karim.
