NPP is ready to Support Government to Resolve Bawku Conflict – Justin Kodua

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is committed to supporting the government in its efforts to find a lasting solution to the protracted chieftaincy conflict in Bawku.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Accra, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong emphasized the urgent need for national unity in addressing the crisis, which has claimed lives and disrupted socio-economic activities in the area.

Mr. Kodua, while reiterating the NPP’s commitment to peace, took a swipe at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of politicizing the Bawku conflict while in opposition. He said such conduct only deepened divisions and hampered efforts to resolve the situation.

He called on government, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, and all relevant stakeholders to rise above partisan interests and work together to restore peace and stability to the troubled region.

“The Bawku situation is not one that should be used for political gain. It is about lives, it is about peace, and it is about national cohesion,” Mr. Kodua stated. “We, as a party, are ready to offer our full support to any genuine effort by the government to bring peace to Bawku.”

The NPP’s statement comes amid renewed concerns over the escalating violence in Bawku, with calls mounting for a more coordinated and non-partisan approach to resolving the decades-old dispute.
