NPP Denies Allegations of Hiring Ukrainian PR Firm for Smear Campaign

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly denied allegations published by AllAfrica.com on July 31, 2025, under the headline: “Ukrainian PR Agency Demands $280,000 From Ghana’s NPP for Online Smear Campaign.”

In a statement issued by its National Communications Directorate, the party described the claims as false, baseless, and defamatory, asserting that it has no contractual relationship, past or present, with any entity named Brandcom, whether based in Ukraine or elsewhere.

“At no point did the leadership of the NPP engage, authorize, or instruct any foreign agency to operate fake social media accounts, produce smear content, or undertake any unethical digital activities during the 2024 presidential campaign, or any campaign cycle,” the statement said.

The party emphasized its longstanding commitment to issue-based campaigning, democratic values, and ethical political conduct, firmly rejecting any suggestion to the contrary.

The NPP further described the publication as a deliberate attempt to damage its reputation and undermine public trust, warning that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against Brandcom and any media outlet that circulates the “unsubstantiated allegations.”

“We demand an immediate retraction of these false claims,” the party insisted.

Reaffirming its focus on transparent and ethical governance, the NPP urged the public and media to remain vigilant against misinformation, particularly from faceless entities attempting to discredit legitimate political actors.
