NPP Condemns Death Threats and Assaults by NDC Officials

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned threats of death and physical assault allegedly made by senior officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against some of its leaders.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party accused Chief Sofo Azorka, the NDC’s First National Vice Chairman, and Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu, the Abuakwa North Constituency Communication Officer, of issuing death threats against Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, and Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

The NPP also alleged that Chief Sofo Azorka led a group of supporters in an unprovoked physical attack on its Third National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu.

The party described the incident as a serious threat to Ghana’s democracy and national security, especially given the country’s recent decline in the Global Peace Index Ranking.

The NPP announced that it will formally lodge a complaint with the Ghana Police Service and called on the Inspector General of Police to immediately arrest and investigate the individuals involved, citing widely circulated video evidence.

“The recklessness of these actions must be properly investigated and punished to safeguard peace and democracy in Ghana,” the statement concluded.
