The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured the public that Ghana has sufficient fuel stocks and that the national petroleum market remains stable despite concerns about developments in the global energy market.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Authority said it had taken note of recent reports and speculation regarding the potential impact of global petroleum market trends on fuel supply and pricing in Ghana.
According to the NPA, a comprehensive review of national petroleum stock levels and supply arrangements conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and industry stakeholders confirmed that the country currently has adequate petroleum products to meet both current and projected national demand.
The Authority indicated that sufficient quantities of Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are available nationwide.
The statement further noted that government agencies are implementing proactive measures to maintain supply reliability and market stability. These include continuous monitoring of national stock levels and strategic coordination with key industry players such as International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), BOST Energies, and local refineries to ensure timely imports and steady distribution of petroleum products across the country.
The NPA also indicated that it is strengthening strategic supply planning and price monitoring mechanisms to address any potential supply disruptions or price volatility arising from developments in the global petroleum market.
The Authority therefore urged the public not to panic or engage in panic buying, stressing that the petroleum supply chain continues to operate normally and that adequate fuel stocks remain available nationwide.
The NPA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable fuel supply, transparent market operations, and the protection of consumer interests, adding that the public will be kept informed of any significant developments.
