Accra, August 12, 2025 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended the operations of nine radio stations for various infractions, following the expiration of a 30-day grace period granted by President John Dramani Mahama for defaulting stations to rectify violations of Ghana’s FM broadcasting regulations.

While several stations took advantage of the amnesty period to address their breaches, six stations failed to take any corrective action. As a result, the NCA has suspended the operations of the following:
Donplus Multimedia Limited – 105.9 MHz (Ho)
Dreams Ghana Media Limited – 104.9 MHz (New Abirem)
Jam Multimedia Limited – 101.3 MHz (Kintampo)
Jewel Group Limited – 102.7 MHz (Duayaw Nkwanta)
Kpandai Star Community Radio – 107.3 MHz (Kpandai)
Unique Gateway Communication Limited – 105.7 MHz (Nkawkaw)
In addition, three other stations have had their operations suspended for continuing to breach specific regulations despite partial compliance during the amnesty period. Infractions included the unauthorised use of Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) frequencies and unapproved transmitter locations. The affected stations are:

Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited – 95.9 MHz (Accra)
Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited – 101.3 MHz (Kumasi)
Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited – 101.3 MHz (Takoradi)
According to the NCA, these suspensions are in line with Regulation 54 of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011 (L.I. 1991), which prohibits broadcasting without a valid Certificate of Compliance.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the broadcasting space to ensure full adherence to authorisation conditions, as well as the laws and regulations governing broadcasting in Ghana.
