Ministry of Energy Approves Scheduled Maintenance Shutdown of Atuabo Gas Processing Plant

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has granted approval to Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) to carry out a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant from August 16 to August 30, 2025.

In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that this maintenance is crucial for “ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of the plant.

” During the shutdown, Ghana Gas will temporarily suspend gas supply to allow for “critical inspections, repairs, and upgrades to key equipment and systems” designed to enhance the plant’s operational efficiency and overall performance.

The Ministry assured the public that it has “put in place comprehensive measures to mitigate any potential impact on power supply during the maintenance period.” These measures include the strategic use of alternative fuel sources to guarantee a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply nationwide.

The Ministry urged Ghanaians to remain patient and assured them that all efforts are being made to minimize disruption during this essential maintenance work.
