A significant breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The Police and University Security Services have successfully retrieved Joana’s laptop and mobile phone, which were hidden behind the Flint Hostel.

The retrieval of these items was made possible through CCTV footage from the hostel’s security surveillance system. Investigators believe that the recovered items will provide crucial evidence to aid in the prosecution process.

In a related development, the suspect in custody, Daniel Tuffuor, was arraigned before the Circuit Court at Asafo today. The court has remanded Tuffuor into custody, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17, 2025.

The Ghana Police Service and KNUST authorities have assured that they will continue to work diligently to ensure justice is served. The university management has expressed gratitude to security personnel and law enforcement agencies for their swift action in handling the case.

To enhance safety and security, the university is taking further steps to improve surveillance measures within and around campus. The university has also urged students, staff, and the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course.

The thoughts of the university community remain with the family, friends, and loved ones of Joana Deladem Yabani during this difficult time.
