KNUST ASSURES STUDENTS OF SAFETY AFTER TRAGIC DEATH OF FOURTH-YEAR STUDENT

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has assured the university community and students of their safety following the tragic death of a fourth-year Biological Sciences student, Joana Deladem Yabani.

The lifeless body of the student was discovered near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre on February 27, 2025. The university promptly transported the body to the University Health Services for further examination.

A comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

The university has officially informed the family of the deceased and urged students to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. Management has also extended its deepest condolences to the grieving family.

The university’s management has assured students that the safety and well-being of the university community remain a top priority.
