Greater Accra Bissa Chief Calls for Unity and Warns Youth Against Drug Abuse

The Greater Accra Bissa Chief, Chir Gouta Alhaji Salisu Ali Dabre IV, has called on members of the Bissa community and other ethnic groups to deepen unity and cooperation for the collective development of their communities.

Speaking at the 2025 Bissa Sukuma Festival, organized by the Bissa Development Association (BDA) in collaboration with the Greater Accra Council of Bissa Chiefs, Alhaji Salisu emphasized that inter-tribal harmony remains vital to national cohesion and sustainable progress.

“Every speaker touched on the need for unity. We are doing our best to follow the example set by our forefathers, and we hope our children will continue in that spirit. It’s not just about the Bissa community, the presence of other tribes here shows our shared commitment to togetherness,” he said.

He also expressed concern over the growing menace of drug abuse among the youth, describing it as a major threat to the moral and social fabric of society. The chief urged community elders, parents, and opinion leaders to take an active role in mentoring young people and guiding them toward positive lifestyles.

“It is worrying to see the extent of drug use among our youth. Many are unaware of the dangers. Elders must get involved and advise their wards to stay away. Education and discipline will open better opportunities for them,” he cautioned.

The festival drew participants from diverse ethnic backgrounds, reflecting the spirit of unity and collaboration that continues to grow among communities in the Greater Accra Region.
