The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has rolled out an upgraded electronic pay-slip system for all government employees on the National Payroll, in a move aimed at improving transparency, security and accessibility of payroll information.
According to a press release issued on February 9, 2026, the upgraded system introduces the mandatory use of National Identification Authority (Ghana Card) numbers for accessing government pay-slips. The department says this measure will enhance the accuracy of personal payroll data and strengthen security against unauthorised access.
Under the new arrangement, all government workers are required to log onto the GoG employee pay-slip portal and register using their employee number and Ghana Card details. Employees must also provide and verify a phone number through a one-time password (OTP), which will be used for authentication and future password resets. Providing an email address remains optional.
The registration process further requires users to create a new password, select a security question, and confirm their details before completing sign-up on the platform.
The CAGD has encouraged public sector workers to visit its official YouTube page, @CAGDGhana, where a step-by-step instructional video has been made available to guide users on how to access and use the electronic pay-slip system.
The department assured employees of its commitment to continuously upgrading payroll systems to ensure efficiency and reliability, while appealing for cooperation during the transition to the enhanced platform.
For enquiries or feedback regarding the new pay-slip system, employees have been advised to contact the CAGD through its designated helplines.
The statement was signed by the Head of Public Relations at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.
