Goldbod Ghana has made a significant contribution to the government’s ongoing fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, with the donation of GHS 5 million and five Toyota Hilux pickup vehicles to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
The donation was presented at a brief ceremony in Accra. Chief Executive Officer of Goldbod Ghana, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable mining and environmental protection.
He noted that the partnership with the Ministry forms part of Goldbod’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on safeguarding the environment and promoting responsible mining. Mr. Gyamfi also urged the media to intensify public education on the dangers of illegal mining and the need to protect Ghana’s natural heritage.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, who received the donation, commended Goldbod Ghana for its timely support and appealed to other private sector players to emulate the company’s example.
Illegal mining continues to pose a major national challenge, causing severe environmental damage, water pollution, and loss of livelihoods in mining communities across the country.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the National Anti-Galamsey Taskforce, Director of Operations, Colonel Buah, expressed optimism that the new resources would enhance their work.
