EC Sets Date for Council of State Elections

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that elections for Regional Representatives to the Council of State will take place on February 11, 2025. This move is in line with the 1992 Constitution, specifically Paragraph (C), Clause (2) of Article 89.

According to a statement published by the Commission on January, 22, 2025, aspiring candidates are required to submit their nomination forms, along with two recent photographs, to their respective Regional Directors between January 28 and 31, 2025.
The forms the Commission noted must be endorsed by two registered voters and supported by 20 registered voters from the region.

Key Requirements for Candidates:

• Nomination Forms: Can be downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s website and must be completed in triplicate.
• Photographs: Two recent bust-sized photographs against a red background showing the candidate’s full face and ears.
• Endorsements: Proposed and seconded by two registered voters and supported by 20 registered voters from the region.

The Electoral Commission noted completed forms should be delivered to the designated receipt centers during the specified hours. The elections will take place in all Regional Capitals, with venues to be determined by the Commission.
