The Chief of Armaahman, Nii Armaah Kwafio II, has strongly condemned the violent attack on Armaahman residents by landguards from the Ashifra community. The attack occurred after a court ruling in favor of Armaahman in a long-standing land dispute between the two communities.

The Amasaman High Court presided over by Justice Alexander Graham, ruled in favor of Armaahman on February 28, 2024, in Suit No: E1/AHC/962021. However, instead of accepting the court’s decision, some Ashifra community elders allegedly mobilized thugs to unleash violence on Armaahman residents.

Two victims, Asafoatse Armah and Nii Okoe, sustained severe injuries during the attack. Nii Armaah Kwafio II expressed deep disappointment with the handling of security matters by the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arhin.

The chief is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Yohuno to intervene and ensure that the police act impartially in the matter. He emphasized that Ashifra leaders should have sought legal redress if they were dissatisfied with the ruling instead of resorting to violence.
Tensions remain high in the area, with residents of Armaahman calling on authorities to restore peace and ensure that those responsible for the attacks face justice.
