Alan Kyerematen Must Return – Kwabena Agyepong Appeals for Unity Within NPP

In a powerful declaration of intent to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into a new era, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong made a passionate appeal for unity, urging former presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen to return to the party.

Addressing delegates during his official announcement to contest the NPP’s flagbearership, Agyepong spoke from a place of experience and deep commitment. Drawing on decades of service and having been mentored by some of the founding giants of the party, he positioned himself as a bridge between the past and the future.

“I have the institutional memory of the NPP because I’ve been tutored by its giants and grassroots,” he began, mentioning names like B.J. da Rocha, President J.A. Kufuor, Nana Akufo-Addo, and others. But it was his mention of Alan that drew the most attention: “I mentioned Alan because I believe he must return home as we rebuild.”

For Agyepong, Alan’s departure from the party marked a painful turn in the NPP’s internal politics. His call for Alan’s return was more than nostalgia—it was a signal that the party must begin to heal and reunite its ranks. “This is our moment of truth,” he told delegates. “You, the delegates, hold the power to decide whether the NPP rises again as a beacon of hope for Ghana or sinks further into disunity and despair.”

In recent years, tensions and divisions have weakened the party’s image and internal strength. Agyepong warned against choices that could deepen cracks in the party’s foundation. “Let’s not weigh down this party any further with a choice that will eventually call for unending efforts of reconciliation, reparations from hate speeches and all manner of vile deeds,” he stated.

He emphasized that politics is not about entitlement but about sacrifice and character, urging the party to return to the ideals that once inspired ordinary people to join. “Politics belongs to the grassroots,” he reminded, “not to the petty squabbles of contented partisan elites.”

Agyepong made it clear that his vision is one of inclusion, rebuilding, and clarity of purpose. “With me, KAA, the NPP has a clear path to unity and victory,” he said. “We cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results.”

By calling on Alan Kyerematen to come back to the NPP, Kwabena Agyepong is not only reaching out to a former comrade but making a broader statement: that unity, humility, and collective sacrifice are the only way forward if the NPP is to restore its strength and win the trust of Ghanaians once again.
