The Birim North District Assembly has distributed various livelihood support items to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district as part of efforts to improve their economic wellbeing and promote self-reliance.
The initiative, funded through the District Assembly Common Fund for Persons with Disabilities, is aimed at empowering beneficiaries to establish or expand income-generating activities and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony, the District Chief Executive for Birim North, Hakeem Abdul Antwi, said the Assembly remains committed to supporting Persons with Disabilities and creating opportunities for them to achieve economic independence.

He disclosed that the district has more than 1,000 Persons with Disabilities, adding that the Assembly would continue working to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the necessary support. Mr Abdul Antwi urged beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purposes and cautioned them against selling or diverting the support.
The Vice Chairman of Persons with Disabilities in Birim North, Awudu Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the intervention. He encouraged fellow PWDs to have confidence in their abilities and make productive use of the opportunities and resources provided to them.

According to him, disability should not be regarded as a barrier to success, stressing that determination, hard work and commitment can enable individuals to achieve their goals and become self-reliant.
The beneficiaries are expected to use the support to strengthen their livelihoods and improve their economic independence.
