The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vowed to continue demanding answers over the US$1.7 billion loss reported by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in connection with the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP).
The party said it would not relent in its calls for accountability until the circumstances surrounding the reported loss were fully explained and subjected to public scrutiny.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye urged the Minority in Parliament to intensify its efforts to uncover details of the transactions associated with the programme.
“We are not backing off. Not now, not tomorrow, not until every question is answered in full, and in public, and under proper scrutiny,” he said.
Nana Boakye called on the Minority Leader and members of the NPP parliamentary caucus to use all available parliamentary procedures to demand answers from the government and relevant institutions.
“Use every relevant law in the books, every question on the floor of Parliament, every committee hearing, every request for documents, every order paper, every point of order.”
“Fight for the people of Ghana in the court of public opinion as well. Fight until the Ghanaian people receive all the answers they deserve—in writing, under oath if necessary,” he said.
The NPP’s renewed call for accountability follows the IMF’s reported assessment of a US$1.7 billion loss linked to the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme.
The development has triggered calls for further scrutiny of the programme, particularly regarding the management of the transactions and their impact on public finances.
The NPP said it would continue to pursue the matter through Parliament and other appropriate channels until the issues surrounding the reported loss are adequately addressed.
